#1 Large Regional Health Care FirmThe Situation: The AdVantage Consulting Solution: In collaboration with senior management, and in order to fully appreciate their issues, an “Opportunity Assessment ” was conducted to better understand the emerging situation and how the company could best use its strengths to gain a competitive advantage. From these data, the new strategic focus was created, an organization design was formulated to advance the strategy, and an implementation plan was developed. What was needed next was a communication and involvement process to generate final revisions of the strategy and design, and to ensure “buy-in ” from those who were to execute the plans. A process was created called “Building Strategic Unity ”, which was designed to engage the entire organization and its strategic partners in a two-way conversation about the new direction of the company and everyone’s role in making it happen.
The Results: As a result of successful execution of the new strategy, the company is now a Fortune 200 company with 2003 revenues of approximately $12.2 billion. They now have approximately 5.8 million medical members. Company employees know, enhance, and support the strategy and communicate it enthusiastically to medical members.
